Permanent Blindness

At Live Life Care, many of our clients will lose their eyesight over time and become legally blind. There are a number of eye diseases that can result in loss of eyesight or a form of vision impairment. In all cases, the larger the impairment, the more support will be needed in day to day life.

Difficulties of
Permanent Blindness

There are a number of difficulties associated with permanent blindness. It can affect your life in a number of ways and even to a point in which day to day life can become difficult. While you will begin to learn your way around your home without sight, daily house activities still may be a struggle. Here are some of the difficulties that can be caused by permanent blindness:

Cooking and Cleaning

Living with permanent blindness can significantly affect your life in terms of cooking and cleaning. Preparation for meals will become more difficult and use of any sharp kitchen equipment may become dangerous. Additionally, cleaning around your house may also become a difficult task. We suggest that such tasks should be taken care of through the use of your carer.

Shopping and Outdoor Activities

While shopping and outdoor activities can still be done, they can be done with the help of your carer. Shopping without support may be possible over time, but immediately after the loss of sign, the assistance of a carer is invaluable.

Socialising

Going blind can have a negative effect on your ability to socialise and spend time with others. As you may find it difficult to go outside, meeting friends and family can be difficult by yourself. Our team of dedicated professional can help by ensuring you are as social as you are wanting to be, and are able to visit with friends and family as you would like to.
